On January 1, 2021, the Macon-Bibb County Tax Commissioner’s Office assumed responsibility for processing initial and renewal applications for general business and privilege licenses. As part of that transition, it made an electronic application available to help streamline the process for business owners. The deadline to submit applications without penalty is April 1, 2021.

“The application process this first year will help us collect information from the businesses and combine it with what is already on record,” says Tax Commissioner S. Wade McCord. “In future years, having this database of information online will help the process go much quicker for business owners.”

To submit an online application for renewal, visit www.maconbibbtax.us, choose the “General and Alcohol Licensing” tab on the left, and click on “Online Applications.” You will then be guided with prompted questions through the renewal process and provided instructions regarding required supporting documents. Please ensure you are uploading all proper forms to avoid delays.

“Since beginning the online process, we have successfully processed hundreds of alcohol applications with great feedback from business owners, so I highly recommend people take advantage of this service,” adds McCord. “By using the online process, we are also limiting in-person contact and helping prevent the spread of COVID-19.”

A business owner may also submit the application by mail. To do so, you download the form titled under “Printable Applications for Mail-In Submission” from the website. Once completed, the form, documentation, and appropriate fee can be mailed to:

Macon-Bibb Tax Commissioner’s Office

PO Box 4503

Macon, GA 31208-4503

In person applications, documentation, and fees can be dropped off at the Tax Commissioner’s Office at 188 Third Street Tuesdays through Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Applications will be processed in the order they are dropped off, and a copy of the license will be mailed once it’s issued.
