This week we’re shining the Staff Spotlight on our intern, Shakeria Glynn. Shakeria is currently interning with the Clerk’s Office before graduating college in June.

Shakeria was born and raised in Macon and graduated from Southwest High School in 2019. That same year, she was selected as the Bibb County School District’s Career, Technical, Agricultural Education (CTAE) Student of the Year. Recently, she was asked to return as a guest speaker at the Student of the Year Ceremony.

“Having a former student come back who is already making the most of her opportunities is key,” said CTAE Executive Director Dr. Cassandra Washington. “Shakeria Glynn is a wonderful example for the current class of what a CTAE education can lead to down the road.”

Shakeria is a student at American Intercontinental University, where she is pursuing a degree in Criminal Justice. She chose to intern with the County to get a better idea of how local government works. Working alongside the Clerk of Commissioners, she has been able to get her hands on several projects.

“I’ve learned that every person in Macon-Bibb plays a part in how society works and the more you understand how everything works, the more you can contribute to what’s going on,” said Shakeria. “I’ve learned so much that I know will be helpful in my future career.”

We are so happy to have Shakeria on Team Macon-Bibb and wish her the best as she graduates this summer!
