Staff Spotlight: Lt. Kyle Murray

This week, we are joining the Fire Department in celebrating Arson Investigator Lt. Kyle Murray. Lt. Murray was recently sworn in through the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office after completing Mandate Training.

Lt. Murray has been with the Fire Department for 15 years and is currently the Interim Lead Fire Investigator. Before getting sworn in by Sheriff David Davis, he attended 12 weeks of basic law enforcement training and become a state certified Peace Officer. He now has the power to arrest arson suspects.

“This is just a different way to be able to help our community. To sit there and try to figure out how a fire started, where it started, who started it. It’s a big puzzle, but it’s rewarding,” said Lt. Murray.

The Fire Department currently has two fire investigators, including Lt. Murray, who is the only one with arrest powers.

“We are super proud of Lt. Murray for his achievements and accomplishments,” said Fire Chief Shane Edwards. “His investigation skills are intelligent and articulate. We are truly thankful to have Lt. Murray assigned to our Fire Arson Investigation Division. ”

Lt. Murray is a Tattnall Square Academy graduate, a husband, and a father to a 9-year old girl. He says he is fortunate to be able to give back to his community and work with a team that feels more like family.

We are so proud to have Lt. Murray on Team Macon-Bibb! Thank you for all that you do to protect our community!
