Staff Spotlight: Abi Brown

It’s not common to see women working in the mechanical industry, but for Abi Brown, that did not stop her from falling in love with the career.

Abi is Macon-Bibb County’s first and only female mechanic. She took the position with the Heavy Duty Equipment and Diesel Maintenance division of the Vehicle Maintenance Department in December 2021 and has quickly learned to love it.

“The guys and the whole crew I work with feel like family, and I haven’t been here that long,” said Abi.

She was born and raised in Middle Georgia and says her love for vehicle maintenance came from wanting to do things herself.

“I got tired of getting screwed over by mechanic shops and not getting things fixed,” said Abi. “I figured if I learn more about the system and understood it a little better, the better off I was. I found out that I actually really like it…and I’m good at it.”

We are so proud to have Abi on #TeamMaconBibb!

If you know a County employee you would like spotlight, contact eruiz@maconbibb.us. Throughout the month of March, we will be focusing on women as part of Women’s History Month.
