Staff Spotlight: Laura Hardwick

by | Mar 16, 2023 | News

Our Procurement Department has a new Director, someone who isn’t new to the Department. Earlier this month, the Commission approved appointing Interim Director Laura Hardwick as the new Director of Procurement. This week, we’re shining our Staff Spotlight on Laura!

Laura started working with Macon-Bibb County in April 2021 as its Senior Procurement Officer. Now, she will be responsible for ensuring the Department provides quality goods and services at competitive and fair prices to meet the organizational needs. Her aspirations are to improve customer and vendor relationships and to ensure fairness and integrity throughout the procurement processes.

“I am very appreciative of the opportunity to serve as the Procurement Director for Macon-Bibb County,” said Laura. “Most importantly, I am proud of my team who makes many sacrifices to ensure the Procurement Department is productive and efficient.”

Prior to Macon-Bibb, Laura worked in the Procurement Department at Central State Hospital as its Senior Procurement Officer. She later moved to Atlanta and retired the Department of Administrative Services, State Purchasing after 34 years as a Category Associate Manger

“As Director, I would like to increase the Procurement Department’s efficiency,” said Laura. “I would also like to increase the visibility of the Department, so people understand the importance of the work performed.

In her free time, Laura loves to spend quality time with her family and friends.

She also has some advice for women who are working to move up in their work environment, “Never forget the people who have inspired and supported you on your journey.”

#TeamMaconBibb is lucky to have you, Laura! We can’t wait to see you lead and succeed.
