Macon-Bibb County is welcoming Weston Stroud as our new Traffic Safety Manager in the Traffic Engineering Department. This is a new and much needed position in our County.
Weston will focus on reducing fatalities and major injuries among cyclists, pedestrians, motorists, and other users. He will be responsible for internal coordination and external outreach for the Transportation Safety Plan, which includes the Safe Systems and Vision Zero initiative. The Vision Zero mission is to reach zero traffic-related fatalities by the year 2040.
“I love Macon,” said Stroud. “Having worked for the Transit Authority and Planning and Zoning, I have experience in transportation planning; plus, working for Piedmont Construction provided me experience with project management. So I knew with my background I could be effective working with community members, contractors, civil servants, and elected officials.”
Stroud is from Macon, attending St. Peter Claver Catholic School and Mount De Sales Academy. He attended State University of New York’s Environmental School of Forestry and Syracuse University.
“I’m most excited that this position is a part of the Engineering Department because we have jurisdiction to modify the roadways that are owned by the county,” he said. “This gives me the freedom to find grants and introduce alternative approaches to issues that arise on county owned roads while advocating safety measures to the state on the roads they own before issues become grim.”
Welcome to #TeamMaconBibb, Weston!
