Departments collecting items for Ronald McDonald House

Macon-Bibb County’s Public Works Department is holding its Spring donation drive and is challenging other departments to collect items for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Georgia. The department with the most items collected will win a prize from Public Works Director Marvin Land.

“We had great success with our Fall donation drive, and our crews wanted to reach out to our community again this season,” says Marvin Land. Last year, Public Works collected more 4,169 items for the Middle Georgia Community Food Bank.

“At Ronald McDonald House Charities, we believe in strength in numbers,” says Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central Georgia President and CEO Bonnie Hopkins. “When everyone participates in even a small way, the impact is quite large.”

In addition to the need for items, the Ronald McDonald House is also in need of volunteers. Every four hours volunteered will count as 40 items; once you’ve completed volunteering, email Marvin Land at mland@maconbibb.us and let him know which department you’d like the 40 item count to go towards.

In order to ensure the health, safety and well-being of our children and their families, we cannot accept used clothing, toys, or stuffed animals. Items will be collected at the following locations:

Facilities Management (1000 Seventh Street)
Public Works (4520 Knight Road)
Parks and Beautification (327 Lower Poplar Street)
Parks and Recreation (150 Willie Smokie Glover Drive, in Central City Park)
Solid Waste (327 Lower Poplar Street)
Tax Commissioner’s Office (188 Third Street)
Government Center (700 Poplar Street)
