November 3, 2024 is celebrated as Retired Educators Day in Macon-Bibb County and in the state of Georgia. Mayor Lester Miller presented a proclamation to retired teachers at a Commission Meeting to commemorate the day. 

There are more than 103,000 retired educators in Georgia, 23,000 plus of whom are members of the Georgia Retired Educators Association. Retired educators of Georgia donate thousands of hours of volunteer service and make invaluable contributions to the welfare of their respective communities across the state.
