This week, we celebrated National Police Week, honoring our law enforcement. Police Week is May 11 – 17 this year, and the Macon-Bibb Law Enforcement Foundation held its annual Peace Officers Memorial Day Ceremony on Friday, May 9. The ceremony was held at Public Safety Memorial Park. You can watch the full ceremony here.

“We want everyone to remember and honor each of our public safety heroes who devoted their lives to protect our community,” said Warren Selby with the Macon-Bibb Law Enforcement Foundation. “This memorial ceremony is so important to us.”

During the Ceremony, officers read all the names of our Police Officers, Sheriff’s Deputies, and Firefighters who lost their lives in the Line of Duty.  The Honor Guard placed a rose at the base of the monument for each name will be read. This somber and reverent ceremony also featured speakers, a prayer, music, and a flyover from Georgia State Patrol.
