On Thursday, October 26, Bibb, County schools participated in Read for the Record Day. Schools had a variety of community members who volunteered their time to read “With lots of love” by Jenny Torres Sanchez to students.
Research supports the importance of early reading literacy in the ongoing success of students later in their educational careers and on into adulthood; it is essential that the critical role of early literacy is highlighted, celebrated, and promoted to develop a literate community.
Macon-Bibb County School District and the United Way of Central Georgia have recognized early literacy as a fundamental building block of a healthy community and set literacy as one of the highest priorities.
