United Way of Central Georgia (UWCG) is looking for people in our community to volunteer and read to students. It’s all part of Read United, an initiative aimed to address the literacy challenges facing Middle Georgia.
It will launch onsite and online on September 27, 2021. Volunteers will provide reading support to students at least one-hour a week, during the school day, and per semester.
“Read United is committed to serving the literacy needs of our students and helping address the learning loss children have endured because of the pandemic,” said UWCG Vice President of Education Shelton Land. “Without a doubt, this pandemic has contributed to many students falling behind and intensified the pressure on our educators.”
