What a better way to get the new year started than with a day of mental health care? The Macon Mental Health Matters (MMHM) Pop-Up Gym is BACK.
This time it will be at the Frank Johnson Recreation Center (2227 Mercer University) Dr on Saturday, January 14. Activities begin, rain or shine, at 10:00 a.m. and go until 1:00 p.m.
“January is National Mentoring Month and we recognize the vital relationship mentors have on the mental health of young people and we want to celebrate that,” said MMHM Coordinator Andrea Cooke.
The gym will feature its usual free services such as yoga, a drum circle, meditation, and other services. MMHM is partnering with local community groups once again to make sure everyone in the family is taken care of mentally and physically.
Melanated Community Stimulation Project (MCPS) will provide free healthy food options for families to take home, and the People and Pets Project will offer care for you and your pets by providing wellness exams and vaccines. BeU=P.I.E. – a non-profit organization that caters to young girls/young adults between the ages of 10-21 – is also joining the gym to promote uniqueness, purpose, passion, and creativity.
MMHM provides free pop-up gyms every second Saturday of the month, rain or shine, at different locations throughout Macon-Bibb County. Click here to learn more about more free mental health services the organization provides.
