Crews from Sellers Contracting Services will close Pinehill Drive to through traffic from Shurling Drive to New Clinton Road on Monday, December 9, from 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. Only local traffic will be allowed on closed section of Pinehill.
The road will only be closed to through traffic on Monday, December 9, but crews are asking for drivers to please seek alternate routes throughout the full construction project the next few months. There will be flaggers in place to help with safety, but the crews working there would be even safer with fewer cars on that section.
The closure is needed so crews can install drainage across Pinehill Drive – including the drain pipe, curb, sidewalk, and asphalt – as part of the Pinehill Sidewalk Project. This is designed to ultimately improve pedestrian safety for the entire neighborhood. Pinehill Drive is a narrow, rolling roadway with limited sight distances and shoulder widths, making it a very uncomfortable and unsafe place to walk.
The Pinehill Sidewalk Project is funded with $181,276 from the voter-approved Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST). It was designed by Stantec Consulting Services and is being constructed by Sellers Contracting Services.
