Next event set for September

A little rain didn’t stop the party for the Recreation Department’s second Picnic in the Park at Carolyn Crayton Park. Last Saturday, July 9, more than 300 people came to the park to spend time with their family and friends while enjoying food, drinks, and icy treats from 15 vendors. There was delicious food, and even wine from Jail Creek Farms for the grownups. Trombone Love provided a variety of music for the day, and the little ones got to cool off in a foam pit.

“We’re glad the rain didn’t ruin the fun!” says Recreation Senior Administrative Assistant Kalyn Collins. “We had a lot of people to start, then the rain threatened to derail it, but thankfully it cleared up quickly so people could continue to enjoy the day. We can’t wait for the next one!”

The next Picnic in the Park event is scheduled from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 10, at Carolyn Crayton Park. It’s free to attend, but there will be food and drinks for sale. People are encouraged to bring their own tents, chairs, blankets, and kids to have a nice day out in one of our most beautiful spots. Follow the Recreation Department on Facebook for more info.
