On Thursday, August 5, the Macon Pickleball Association and Macon Area Tennis Association presented a check for $5,150 to the Brookdale Resource Center.

The money was raised by both associations during their first ever TAP Out for the Homeless Pickleball and Tennis events. More than 70 players came to Tattnall Square Park on July 24, to play and raise money for the Brookdale Resource Center.

“It was nice to meet the people who are receiving this money,” said President of the Macon Pickleball Association Paul Midkiff. “It was a very fun event and now, presenting this check feels very rewarding.”

This money is going to help the Center put a security screener as a preventative to keep every guest, employee, and volunteer at the Center safe.

“This is going to make a great improvement to the security,” said United Way of Central Georgia CEO/President George McCanless. “We are so grateful for this generous donation.”

The United Way of Central Georgia recently assumed management operations of the Brookdale Resource Center. You can read more about that here
