Macon-Bibb County’s 2020 Christmas Parade has been cancelled due to COVID-19. The seven-day average of positive cases has recently been increasing, and there are still restrictions on the types of events that can be allowed. During a parade, there would be too many people too close together for too long of a time, making it nearly impossible to enforce mask wearing and social distancing requirements.

“In order to plan an event of this size, we have to be working on it now, and with the case average currently increasing and the restrictions in place regarding crowds and events, we had to make a decision,” says Alex Morrison, Economic & Community Development Assistant says. “We hate to make this decision, but we know it’s the right one in order to continue protecting the health of our community.”
