Macon-Bibb’s Office of Public Affairs has earned two Awards of Excellence from the National Association of County Information Officers (NACIO) for its communication efforts. The winning entries were a Superior for Solid Waste Services Change Infographic in the Graphic Design Category and an Excellence for its Public Affairs Annual Report in the Annual Report Category.

This year, 235 projects from 23 counties and 6 county associations in 19 states were submitted, and Macon-Bibb earned two of the three awards from Georgia. The awards were announced during the NACIO Annual Conference in Las Vegas in July. Click here to see the winning Solid Waste Changes graphic, and here to see the winning Annual Report Graphic.

“I’m so proud of the work our team does to support the community and departments throughout the year by providing relevant and useful information in a meaningful way, and it’s excited to have them recognized at the national level for that work,” says Assistant to the County Manager for Public Affairs Chris Floore. “Local governments are at the core of their communities, and people need and deserve to hear from them on a regular basis.”

This recognition follows several others earned by the Office of Public Affairs in the past year, including: two from PR Daily for the Women of Macon-Bibb Instagram Campaign and Public Affairs Annual Report, and two from the National Association of County Information Officers last summer for the Tropical Storm Irma Debris Collection Infographic and for departmental logos. SeeClickFix has consistently named the Office as one of the top teams for customer service in the country for processing and closing nearly 15,000 service requests every year. Floore recently earned an ACE Award from PR Daily as the top Government Communications/Public Affairs Professional in the country; was named one of the top three Government Communicators in the country by PRNews and twice by the National Association of Government Communicators; and has been included on ELGL’s annual Traeger List of Top Local Government Influencers three consecutive years.

About the Office of Public Affairs

The Office of Public Affairs is responsible for developing and maintaining communication strategies between the Macon-Bibb County government and the community it serves. Public Affairs includes: public & media relations, multimedia & graphic design services, MaconBibbTV, online communications & social media, and customer service.

Working together, these functions are part of a two-way communication program designed to educate the community about improvement efforts by Macon-Bibb and partner organizations and give people a way to provide feedback and have their questions answered and concerns addressed.
