More than 30 firefighters promoted

On Monday, July 1, the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department held a Promotion Ceremony for 34 firefighters are now known as Captain, Lieutenant, Sergeant, and other rankings. You can watch the full ceremony here.

Each were be pinned individually by family and loved ones and then sworn in.

“I am so proud of each of these men and women for their commitment and work in making our community a better place,” says Fire Chief Shane Edwards. “We are excited to celebrate this new chapter in each of their careers. They deserve it!”

The opportunity for the promotions and more leadership opportunities came about with the Fire Department’s change to a new shift schedule that was introduced by Fire Chief Edwards.
