In the wake of recent shootings, Macon Mental Health Matters (MMHM), Macon Violence Prevention (MVP), and Macon-Bibb County are making sure people impacted by the tragedies – whether they be victims, family, or friends – have access to needed and free crisis, trauma, and mental health counseling.
“This is a tragedy that goes against everything our community stands for and is working toward, and there is no limit to the pain we feel for the family and friends grieving and suffering today and in the weeks to come,” says Mayor Lester Miller. “This is not the time for people struggling with loss and grief to be expected to search out the help they need.”
“We want to compile all the available services so people have one place where they can find the type of support and help they need,” says MMHM Coordinator Andrea Cooke. “We can come together as a community and support those who need us the most because no one should have to face this type of loss alone.”
Below is a list of providers and services available immediately to help people struggling or grieving following the recent tragedies.
