If you’ve taken a Macon Transit Authority bus or have driven by a bus stop, you may have already seen a new advertisement! Macon Mental Health Matters (MMHM) created 13 new transit advertisements aimed to reach more people to get them help if they’re struggling.

“Another main objective was for potential clients to see themselves in and easily identify with the ads,” said Nancy Cleveland, who created the signs. “We want people to see them and want to reach out whether it’s for themselves or for a loved one.”

The ten bus posters and three bench signs were strategically placed in different neighborhoods including Pleasant Hill Community, Pio Nono Avenue area, Bloomfield Park, Pendleton Homes, Lynmore Estates, West Macon, East Macon, and near the Brookdale Warming Center.

“Creating nontraditional opportunities to lower the stigma associated with seeking mental health care is why these bus stop ads and other adjuncts to therapy have been pivotal in spreading the message that mental health matters in Macon-Bibb,” said MMHM Coordinator Andrea Cooke.
