Macon Mental Health Matters (MMHM) is hosting its monthly Wellness Weekend this weekend and partnering up with Reimagining the Civic Commons (RCC) to celebrate outdoor public spaces.
Yoga in the Plaza will be held on Friday, March 13, at Jefferson Long Park (436 Pursley Street) at 6:00 p.m., and the Pop-Up Gym will take place on Saturday, March 14, at the newly opened Bicentennial Park (271 Clinton Street) from 10:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.
The Pop-Up Gym provides free opportunities to care for mental health through activities such as yoga, drum circles, therapy resources, and access to fresh produce. Fruits and vegetables will be provided free of charge by the Napier Heights Food Co-Op.
Last month, MMHM celebrated five years of helping connect the community with mental health services at no cost. The initiative has hosted hundreds of events including pop-up gyms, Cooking & Counseling, Knitting & Counseling, forums, panels, retreats, individual therapy sessions, and more.
Since 2021, MMHM has made 13,438 unique contacts with community members and continues to provide individual therapy sessions each week.
