On Monday, January 19, 2026, Macon-Bibb County will once again join the MLK Commission and community partners to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. with a day of community events.

The annual MLK March will begin at 11:00 a.m. Community members will gather at four locations across Macon-Bibb County before marching toward City Hall:

• Booker T. Washington Community Center (401 Monroe Street)
• Memorial Gym (2465 Second Street)
• Rosa Jackson Recreation Center (1211 Maynard Street)
• Frank Johnson Recreation Center (2227 Mercer University Drive)

All march routes will unite at City Hall around noon, where community members will gather on the veranda to hear from a lineup of local speakers who will share reflections and messages honoring Dr. King’s legacy.

Immediately following the remarks, a commemorative ceremony will take place at 12:30 p.m. at Steward Chapel AME Church (887 Forsyth Street).

Residents are encouraged to participate by attending events throughout the day or by hosting their own.
