Hundreds of people from across our community came together to march in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Monday, January 16. Four different groups came from the north, east, south, and west, walking more than a mile to meet at Macon City Hall.
For the first time in two years, because of COVID-19, people of all ages and backgrounds marched the streets of Macon-Bibb carrying signs saying, ‘We are still marching’ and ‘I am the Dream’. All with the same goal – unity. The march was sponsored by the Evangelical Ministers Alliance.
“Yes, I am the Mayor of Macon-Bibb County, but this is your government. It is my duty to see that it serves everyone,” Mayor Miller told the crowd from the veranda of City Hall. “As we march, may the words of Dr. King inspire us and move us onward.”
