At their August 17 meeting, the Mayor and Commissioners approved raising the minimum wage for consolidated government employees. Beginning January 2022, all employees making less than $14 an hour will be moved up to that level. In January 2023, everyone making less than $15 an hour will be moved up to $15. Currently, there are 163 employees making less than $15 an hour with 139 of those making less than $14 an hour.

“We have to make sure that the people who take care of our community every day are able to afford to live here and take care of their families,” says Mayor Lester Miller. “This is just another step in making sure we recognize the service of the people with us now and making us an attractive place to work for new people.”
