From MHI RJ Aviation GroupMHIRJ Aviation Group (MHIRJ) has proudly unveiled its new facility in Macon, Georgia, today in a ribbon-cutting ceremony. The lease signing for the new Service Center was announced back in January of this year, projecting up to four additional lines of maintenance to the MHIRJ MRO network. The center is located at the Middle Georgia Regional Airport, providing quick access for airlines. Joining the already existing facilities in Bridgeport, West Virginia; and Tucson, Arizona, the Macon expansion further solidifies MHIRJ as the world’s largest Regional MRO.

Executives from MHIRJ, the Senior Leadership Team from Endeavor Air, and dignitaries from the city were present to cut the ribbon, officially deeming the MHIRJ Macon Service Center open for business. The event was attended by Macon Mayor Lester Miller, Robby Fountain, Chairman at Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority (MBCIA), Stephen Adams, the executive Director at MBCIA, who was instrumental in MHIRJ getting the lease for the hangar facility, and MHIRJ employees who will be working at the service center.

“This is a significant milestone for MHIRJ, as it expands our footprint as an MRO of choice for our customers and cements our objective of offering world-class service to our customers. We have experienced phenomenal growth and are in the middle of a strategic expansion plan of our MRO infrastructure in the United States.”, said Hiro Yamamoto, President and CEO of MHIRJ. “One of the core values of MHIRJ is building enduring partnerships and with this announcement we are building long-lasting partnerships with our customer, Endeavor, our Employees, and with Macon and Macon-Bibb County.”

“From a concept in the Summer to a term sheet in the Fall of 2021, and now being operational in mid-April, the turnaround has been exceptional. This success is due, in no small part, to the support from MHIRJ’s partners in the State of Georgia, including MBCIA who made the overall process quite seamless,” said Ismail Mokabel, Senior Vice President and Head of Aftermarket at MHIRJ. “We are excited about the great partnerships we are building with the Macon-Bibb County and surrounding area and are so very proud to not only become a driving force in Macon, but also to invest in its growing aviation workforce and infrastructure. We are also looking forward to positively contribute to the State of Georgia’s formidable aerospace cluster.”

The new facility will add approximately 200 jobs in the local community at full capacity, and MHIRJ hiring efforts are actively underway. “MHIRJ is investing and nurturing the next generation of aviation professionals. Our Heroes on the Ground are at the heart of our business.” declared Anthony Hinton, Head of Commercial Aircraft Service Centers.

“Macon-Bibb County is excited to welcome MHIRJ to the Middle Georgia Regional Airport,” says Macon-Bibb County Mayor Lester Miller. “I look forward to seeing their growth and the continued expansion of the aviation industry in Middle Georgia.”

Robby Fountain, MBCIA Chairman stated, “The Macon-Bibb County Industrial Authority is honored that MHIRJ choose our community to expand. We are enthusiastic about the partnership with MHIRJ and proud to bring more #MaconOpportunities.”

The new facility aims to bring mutual benefit both to MHIRJ and the city of Macon, ensuring MHIRJ’s foothold in the booming aerospace community of Macon and, in a wider spectrum, of North America. Macon is the epicenter of the larger aerospace cluster of Georgia. It is also strategically placed with the other two MHIRJ Service Centers in Bridgeport, WV, and Tucson, AZ, serving the Eastern and Western corridors. By expanding in Georgia, MHIRJ intends to establish its service offering in the southern corridor.
