June is Men’s Health Month

June 2022 is now officially Men’s Health Month in Macon-Bibb County. Mayor Lester Miller presented Atrium Health Navicent with a proclamation on Wednesday, June 1 to kick off the month. 

The goal is to educate people about the importance of men’s health. Despite advances in medical technology and research, men continue to live an average of five years less than women, with African American and Native American men having the lowest life expectancy. 

Men who are educated about the value of preventative health will be more likely to participate in health screenings. You can read the full proclamation here.
