Macon-Bibb County officially celebrated the completion of Phase 2 renovations at Memorial Park Recreation Center with a ribbon cutting on Thursday, April 2. You can watch the full ceremony here.

This is about more than upgrades,” said Dr. Keith Moffett. “It’s about creating a space where families can gather, kids can play, and neighbors can connect.”

The upgrades, funded by the 2018 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST), bring several new and improved amenities to the community, including a tennis and pickleball court, an adaptive playground, a renovated baseball field, two new pavilions, upgrades to the swimming pool area, improved sidewalks, and more.

The improvements are part of the County’s continued investment in parks and recreation spaces, creating safe, accessible, and welcoming places for people of all ages.

“These upgrades were designed with the community in mind, giving families and residents a space they can enjoy for years to come,” said Recreation Director Robert Walker.

Memorial Park Recreation Center serves as a hub for the surrounding neighborhood, and these enhancements are expected to provide more opportunities for recreation, community gatherings, and outdoor activities.
