Time to tee off for a good cause! The Fire Department is holding its annual Golf Tournament to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA). It’s happening Friday, October 28, at Historic Bowden Golf Course (3111 Millerfield Road) with check-in starting at 7:00 a.m. The tradition is going on three decades and has raised more than $100,000 for the organization. In addition to the four-person scramble tournament, there will also be a silent auction, cash prizes, a prime rib lunch prepared by firefighters with sides from Texas Roadhouse, ditty bags, and more.

The morning flight starts at 8:30 a.m. with check-in from 7:00 – 8:00 a.m. The afternoon flight starts at 1:30 p.m. with check-in before 1:00 p.m. The last bid for the silent auction will be at 1:00 p.m. The tournament costs $75 per person, and includes cart and green fees, 18 holes of golf, and lunch. 100% of the money made in this tournament will go to MDA.

“This is the perfect opportunity for our firefighters to come together and once again support an organization in our community,” says Fire Chief Shane Edwards. “Our firefighters look forward to playing in the tournament every year and we enjoy the competitive spirit, but it in the end it’s all for a good cause.”

The Fire Department is also still looking for hole sponsors and donated items for the silent auction. Sponsorships start at $250. If you’d like to be a sponsor, make a donation, and sign up for the tournament, contact Administrative Assistant Carlene Howard at CaHoward@MaconBibb.us or call (478) 751-9180.
