During a regularly scheduled Commission meeting Tuesday, Commissioners surprised Mayor Lester Miller with a proclamation.
The proclamation, read by District 7 Commissioner Bill Howell, highlighted Mayor Miller’s Blight Fight initiative and the work he and crews from Public Works, Facilities Management, and contractors have done to remove 30 blighted houses from neighborhoods before his 30-day deadline.
“We thank Mayor Lester Miller for his initiative to eliminate and remove blight and for his continued efforts in this entire community,” said Commissioner Howell.
The Commission then presented Mayor Miller with a brick from a blighted house with a personalized plaque on it.
“It’s a group effort, and our community needs to thank our crews for working so hard on this,” said Mayor Miller. “I appreciate the nice effort from Commissioners. I couldn’t do what I do if you didn’t do what you do.”
