Mayor Miller recognizes Girls Dig Deeper Initiative Summer Learning Week

On Thursday, July 31, Mayor Lester Miller and County Manager Dr. Keith Moffett presented a proclamation to the Girls Dig Deeper Initiative (GDDI) in honor of Summer Learning Week.

GDDI hosted the 2nd Annual Summer in the City Learning Experience for teen girls July15-23, 2025 with specific themes during the week—Goal Setting, STEM, Gardening, Teen Resilience, Confidence Building, Leadership & Company

“This Summer Learning Experience contributes to the girls’ academic and personal growth through a combination of fun-filled themes for the week. We are dedicated to elevating the importance of summer learning and the power of mentorship for our youth. ,” said GDDI Executive Director Najiva Timothee.

GDDI partners with public agencies, community – based organizations, schools, libraries, recreation centers, camps, and businesses in the community to contribute to the well-being of youth through summer programming.
