Mayor Lester Miller hosted a luncheon for Macon-Bibb County’s Council of Clergy in the President’s Dining Room in Mercer’s University Center on Thursday, December 8. More than 50 members attended.
“We know the challenges our community faces will require every person and organization working together as a team, and that includes our faith-based leaders,” said Mayor Miller. “This is a group of leaders that have a direct – and spiritual – connection with the people of our community, and I’m honored they’re willing to be part of our team.”
Mayor Miller provided an update on County projects. Greg Hall and Todd Hunt from Hope for Heart of Georgia and Greater Macon Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Jessica Walden were also in attendance.
“This is an opportunity for our faith-based community to learn about key community partnership opportunities, and how we can be part of making our entire county a better place for our families,” said Reverend Jason McClendon, Community Church of God Pastor and Chair of the Council of Clergy.
Luncheons are held every other month, and this was the fourth hosted by Mayor Miller. About 60 leaders from different denominations and orders of faith attend on a regular basis.
