On Monday, May 22, Mayor Lester Miller presented a proclamation to Atrium Health Navicent to declare the month of May as Stroke Awareness and Prevention Month in Macon-Bibb County.
Throughout the month, people are encouraged to learn more about the signs and symptoms of a stroke and its devastating effects. Stroke is the fourth leading cause of death in the United States, affecting about 795,000 Americans each year.
