At a news conference Tuesday, District 2 Commissioner Paul Bronson and other community partners announced details for #MaconSantaSleigh – an interactive Santa-spotting event happening all over town this Thursday, December 23. Apparently, the jolly old elf himself has taken a Macon-Bibb County Fire Department Truck and is joy-riding around town! We need you to help us track him down.

Beginning at 6:00 p.m., people will have an opportunity to spot Santa, take a photo, and share on social media with the hashtag #MaconSantaSleigh. There’s a map of Santa’s path below, and you can click here to view a larger version.

“We want to bring joy to people, so we’re bringing Santa Claus to them before he gets busy delivering gifts,” says Commissioner Bronson. “We hope that this brings smiles to children’s faces all over our community.”

“Christmas is about so much more than gifts. #MaconSantaSleigh is an opportunity to share some of that goodness with everyone! This effort will add some levity to this time of year, which can be hard on a lot of people,” says Andrea Cooke with C-QUL. “In order for us to have a quality life, we have to care for one another. And this is a great way to share joy and love and kindness all over our community.”

#MaconSantaSleigh is a partnership between District 2 Commissioner Paul Bronson, C-QUL, the Melanated Community Stimulation Project, Community Enhancement Authority, and the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department.

You can watch the announcement here, and be sure to view the map to find out when Santa might be joy-riding near you!
