Our very own firefighter, Jordan Jackson was named the Rookie of the Year for 2024 by the Georgia State Firefighters Association.

“I was shocked and couldn’t believe it,” said Jackson.

The Macon native is part of the Winter Class of 2021 and currently serves at the Station 10. He quickly made an impression on his team and community, as he was nominated for this award by his peers.

“This is the best job in the world,” said Jackson. “I get to help people when they need it most. It’s kind of a surreal thing that this is what I do for work.”

“Jordan’s dedication, hard work, and passion for serving our community truly sets him apart,” said Fire Chief Shane Edwards. “We are very fortunate to have him serve the community. I look forward to seeing him continue to grow within our department.”

Jackson, a First Presbyterian Day School graduate, was recognized at the State Capitol in front of his command staff, as well as in front of his mother, grandmother, and godmother.

“I was pretty nervous, but excited and happy to get to be part of that and have my name attached to the award,” said Jackson.
