Macon-Bibb County’s Earth Day will be celebrated Saturday, April 18, at Amerson River Park (2551 Pierce Drive North) from 10:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. with a theme of “Our Power, Our Parks, Our Planet.” This will be the 16th year for this celebration, and the Earth Day Committee will be presenting awards to people and organizations making a difference in our community because of their contribution to a greener Macon-Bibb.
“We are so excited to again have a fun and educational Earth Day celebration for our entire community,” said Earth Day Committee Chair Sam Kitchens. “Amerson River Park is an amazing location for this annual event because it really brings people close to nature, so we’re inviting your entire family to learn how we can all conserve and protect our planet for generations to come!”
The event is open to all ages and free to enter, and it celebrates environmental stewardship, education, and civic engagement. There will be live music, educational exhibitors with giveaways, a wellness zone, a bicycle raffle, school nutrition displays, and more. Like in past years, once kids complete the activities and get their Earth Day passport stamped, they will get a free kid’s Earth Day t-shirt.
Earth Day in Macon-Bibb is a catalyst for year-round awareness and action by encouraging practical sustainability for homes and businesses, engaging youth and families through interactive programming, and connecting residents with organizations supporting a healthier environment. To be involved, companies and organizations can be a sponsor or vendor.

“We love coming together each year to plan this event because we get to help build a more sustainable community together,” adds Kitchens.
