Justice Verda M. Colvin Month

In honor of Women’s History Month, Mayor Lester Miller presented Georgia Supreme Court Justice Verda Colvin with a proclamation declaring March 2022 as “Justice Verda M. Colvin Month” in Macon-Bibb County. Justice Colvin is the first African-American female appointed by a Republican governor to the state’s high court. 

Prior to her Supreme Court appointment in July 2021, Colvin served as Superior Court Judge in the Macon Judicial Circuit and on the Council of Accountability Court Judges. She’s also a member of The Order of Barristers, Macon Bar Association, American Bar Association, Georgia Association of Black Women Attorneys, Georgia Association for Women Lawyers, Gate City Bar-Judicial Section, William A. Bootle American Inn of Court, Charles Weltner Family Inn of Court, Clarence Cooper Inn of Court, Clarke-Carley Inn of Court, and the Downtown Rotary Club of Macon.
