Government offices closed for Juneteenth Holiday

Macon-Bibb County Government Offices and Courts will be closed Monday, June 20, in observance of the Juneteenth holiday. Emergency services will remain operational.  

The Solid Waste Convenience Center on 11th Street will close at noon on Sunday, June 19th, and remain closed on June 20th. Trash, recycling, bulk, and yard waste by Ryland Environment will not be affected that week.  

Commissioners voted in December 2021 to officially adopt Juneteenth as a county-wide holiday to honor the day enslaved people in America were freed by the Emancipation Proclamation. Learn more about Juneteenth here.
