Macon Black Culture, in partnership with Macon-Bibb County, is holding its 2nd annual Juneteenth Parade on Sunday, June 16, 2024. The parade is happening from 3:00 – 5:00 p.m.  

It will begin at the Tubman African American Museum (310 Cherry Street), will go down Cherry Street, make a left on Second Street, and then make another left on Poplar Street. These streets will be closed from 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m. 

“It’s very important that we display excellence in an area that created a lot of trauma for our ancestors,” said Chair and Co-Founder of Macon Black Culture Muse Dixon. “We invite the entire community to come out and support.”  

The parade will feature colorful floats, marching bands, dance troupes, and a variety of community organizations coming together to honor and uplift the black women and girls who have played a significant role in shaping our history and culture. 

This year’s Grand Marshals will be Zelma Redding and Karla Redding-Andrews, the wife and daughter of the late Otis Redding. Zelma and Karla have been tireless advocates for the preservation and celebration of black culture. This year’s honorees include: Tina Hicks, Ruth Hartley Moseley, Commissioner Elaine Lucas, Dr. Gloria Cisse, and Lillie Ruth Gant Evans.
