Ingleside Avenue speed limit lowered

On Tuesday, January 9, the Commission voted to make Ingleside Avenue safer for people by lowering the speed limit to 25 MPH for the entire street, from Ridge Avenue to Riverside Drive. Before this, the speed limit fluctuated between 25 MPH and 35 MPH.

“This came to my attention from a number of residents who live along the Ingleside corridor and business owners in Ingleside Village,” said Mayor Pro Tem Seth Clark. “When the speed limits were set, the Village had less foot traffic than now. These residents and business owners requested that we look at speed calming, and we came up with this solution.”

The Macon-Bibb County Traffic Engineer studied the conditions and frequency of vehicle collisions along this portion of Ingleside Avenue and found that a reduction in speed is reasonable and would promote public safety. You can read the full ordinance here.
