Mayor Lester Miller, along with Atrium Health Navicent, is encouraging our community to become aware of the importance of vaccinations for people of all ages. Mayor Miller presented a proclamation declaring the month of August as National Immunization Awareness Month.

On-time vaccination throughout childhood is essential because it helps provide immunity before children are exposed to potentially life-threatening diseases. Vaccinations are also recommended for adults, offering protection against serious illnesses such as flu and shingles, and may be recommended to provide safeguards based on health conditions, job, lifestyle or travel habits.

You can read the full proclamation here.
