On Saturday, September 20, the Macon Violence Prevention (MVP) program – in partnership with Macon Mental Health matters – will hold Ice Cream with Dad. The fun will take place at Carolyn Crayton Park (150 Willie Smokie Glover Drive) from 11:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m.  The event is open to all fathers, grandfathers, and male guardians who wish to celebrate fatherhood in a vibrant and welcoming setting.

“Ice Cream with Dad is a special event for me,” says MVP Coordinator Jeremy Grissom. “As a father, I enjoy being able to celebrate fathers while fostering as safe and fun environment for dads to spend time with their kids. Life is so busy for most of us, so taking the time out to provide ice cream, fun and quality is important.”

Ice Cream with Dad is one of many being held around the country by a group called The Active Dad, which holds regular online meetings of fathers and father figures to discuss issues they face, learn of solutions, and find support.
