For the men and women who work hard every day to protect us, saving a life is just part of the job. But it’s one worthy of honor. At the County Commission Meeting on June 6, three people were recognized for their fast actions that saved lives.
On May 19 this year, Sergeant Marquel Edwards (pictured above in the middle), a member of the 377th Quartermaster Company of the Army Reserves, pulled a man and woman out of a burning RV after it flipped on Interstate 475. Mayor Robert Reichert read a proclamation declaring June 5, 2017 “Sergeant Marquel Edwards Day” in Macon-Bibb County.
Deputies Dominique Johnson-Williams and Isaac Munguia were given plaques from Bibb County Coroner Leon Jones for their response in saving someone who was trying to commit suicide. They acted fast to get this person the help they needed. Munguia even noted this was only his second day on the job.
We’re grateful to those who put their lives in harm’s way to protect our community! You can watch the presentations honoring these three by clicking here.
