Historic Vineville Neighborhood Association to hold cleanup

On Saturday, August 6, the Historic Vineville Neighborhood Association (HVNA) is holding a community cleanup from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. Volunteers are invited to meet at the corner of Roff and Clisby Avenues.
Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful (KMBB) is supplying the trash bags, litter pickers, gloves, and vest for volunteers.
“A cleanup can bring about a sense of community and responsibility to keep our homes, schools, and common areas safe and clean. When a neighborhood is awash in trash and litter, and streets and surfaces are dirty and grimy, the streets can become symbols of the hopelessness of residents’ situations, and of the impossibility of improving their lives,” says HVNA President Trixy Hanson. “A neighborhood cleanup enhances neighborhood quality of life. Living in a clean environment makes life healthier, less stressful, and more pleasant.”
HVNA Beautification Chair Barbara Calhoon Stephens will provide refreshments following the cleanup.
If you’d like to hold your own community cleanup, contact KMBB Executive Director Asha Ellen at asha.ellen@kmbbc.org.
