On Saturday, May 21 about twenty people came together to clean up the Fort Hill neighborhood in East Macon. The community cleanup was organized by GROW Macon, Inc., is a nonprofit organization aimed to end food insecurity, educate future gardeners and farmers, and decrease crime in the community.
“We love to see organizations take the lead on hosting cleanups in their neighborhoods throughout the year,” said Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful (KMBB) Executive Director Asha Ellen. “We hope the work GROW Macon did over the weekend will encourage others to do the same.”
GROW Macon, Inc. is hosting another clean up on Saturday, May 28, 2022, at 8:30 a.m. at the Willie Billue Fort Hill Community Center (1104 Eastview Ave.). KMBB provides groups with free bags, pickers, gloves, and vests. If you’re interested in hosting your own community cleanup, contact Ellen at asha.ellen@kmbbc.org.
