On October 30, PR News announced that Macon-Bibb County’s Chris Floore, Assistant to the County Manager for Public Affairs, was selected as a finalist for its Government Communicator of the Year Award as part of its 2018 PR People Awards. The annual awards program showcases the country’s top talent who set the benchmark for excellence in public relations, as well as the professionals and emerging leaders making communications matter. The winner will be announced at a luncheon on December 4

“Beginning with the Transition Task Force during the 18 months prior to consolidation, we have worked to build a strong communication program, one that would benefit both the public and the government,” says Chris Floore. “To even be named a finalist is an honor, and I want to recognize our entire Public Affairs team. Without their dedication to open, honest, and consistent communication, our community would not have the benefit of multiple ways to learn about, ask questions of, and engage with their government.”

“[Chris] has built a program that not only has a heavy emphasis on media relations to ensure accurate, in-depth, and timely stories are provided to the public, but it also ensures that we are both providing information directly to people and giving them a way to report issues and provide feedback,” County Manager Dr. Keith Moffett wrote in his nomination letter. “His program informs the community, and it helps solve issues they see in neighborhoods.”
