Our Georgia Civic Awareness Program for Students (GCAPS) got the opportunity to take a trip to the Macon Water Authority (MWA) Frank C. Amerson Water Treatment Plant to see first-hand how our community gets our water.
The students on the trip were given an exclusive tour around the 3,000-acre plant. They learned everything about how the water gets to the plant and the process it goes through before it gets to homes.
“It was very surprising to see how big this plant is and all of the things that go into making sure we have clean water,” said Howard High School Senior Altoren Palmer. “I thought the most we’d see were like pumps. I didn’t know they had domes, streams of water, and the staff. This trip was really interesting.”

This was the final field trip before the GCAPS 2022 Class graduates on Thursday, May 19.
