On Friday, February 16, our Fire Department officially gained 14 new firefighters. There was a ceremony held at Central Georgia Technical College to celebrate the recruits with their friends and families. You can watch the full ceremony here.

“These men worked hard, and they’ve earned this, and this is their day, but from this day forward, they’re a brotherhood,” said Mayor Lester Miller. “They’re going to move forward with the department that we have in a way that you’ve never seen before and we’re going to watch them grow.”

This is the third class of recruits to go through intensive training at our newest Fire Training Complex.

“We are the best of the best not only because of the leadership, but we’re the best of the best because of you,” said Fire Chief Shane Edwards. “I want you to know that we’re here for you, because you’re here to protect others.

The graduation ceremony featured a presentation of colors, National Anthem, invocation, and multiple speakers. Each Firefighter took the oath of office and be sworn in by Fire Chief Edwards.
