Frank Johnson to get $2 million SPLOST-funded renovations

On Monday, May 5, Macon-Bibb County will commemorate the start of renovations at the Frank Johnson Recreation Center (2227 Mercer University Drive) with a groundbreaking ceremony at 11:00 a.m. The ceremony will be live streamed on www.Facebook.com/MaconBibbCounty.

“This project is a big one for our Recreation Center and community surrounding it,” said Recreation Department Director Robert Walker. “Our neighbors will be able to enjoy enhanced amenities and be able to access the center easier with new sidewalks and more parking. We are so excited!”

The $2,047,000 Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST) funded renovations will include a renovated pool, two new playgrounds, new pavilions, new tennis/pickleball court, renovated baseball field with new fencing, new parking lot, new sidewalks, and an added conference room and weight room.
