On Tuesday, February 9, Mayor Lester Miller and the Commission toured the Fire Department’s current fire training facility on Tinker Drive to see its deteriorating condition. They also learned how the conditions are negatively impacting the training programs, means firefighters have to travel to other facilities.

“I’m proud we’re increasing the pay for our firefighters, and we have to make sure they get the best training, facilities, and equipment,” says Mayor Miller.

Afterward, they took a tour of the training facility in Warner Robins that opened eight months ago to see what’s available with new training programs and technology.

“Based on this tour and the feedback from our Commission, we will be issuing an RFP for a new fire training facility,” says Mayor Miller. “It’s what our firefighters deserve for protecting our community.”
