On Friday, June 6, the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department celebrated the promotion of 28 firefighters. Family and friends filled the conference room at the Macon Mall to watch them as they took the next the next step in their career. You can watch the full ceremony here.

“It feels great! I’ve been waiting on this for a while,” said Captain Christopher Higdon. “It’s been kind of a long wait, but I’m very excited. I’m going to continue to grow with my knowledge of the job and continue to educate myself, and just grow as an officer, and as a leader, and as a firefighter still.”

Three firefighters were promoted to Captain, six Lieutenant, and nineteen and Sergeant. The promotions were a long time coming for many.

“Remember who our customers are. Every citizen in Macon-Bibb County, every person that passes through, we are here to serve, protect, and take care of them. Thank you for what you’ve done. A job well done,” said Chief Edwards. “Thank you for reaching above and beyond in meeting every challenge that our training division and our administration has set before you.”
